The eight-episode first season is set in 1995 and tells the story of the hunt for a notorious serial killer throughout the course of 17 years. In addition to Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey, True Detective stars Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Dunn, Alexandra Daddario, Tory Kittles and Elizabeth Reaser.
