Nína Sæmundsson sculpts Hedy Lamarr | 1939
Nína Sæmundsson (1892–1965) was the first Icelandic woman to work as a professional sculptor. She was born into the farming society which offered few opportunities to women. However, during the twenties of the 20th century she lived in art capitals of the western world, Rome, Paris and New York.
