Asger Oluf Jorn (1914–1973) Danish painter, sculptor, ceramic artist, and author. He was a founding member of the avant-garde movement COBRA and the Situationist International. In 1964, he was awarded a Guggenheim Award including a generous cash prize, by an international jury. The following day Jorn sent this telegram to the president of the Guggenheim Foundation, Harry F. Guggenheim.
Jorn left Denmark in 1953 for Switzerland, Italy and France. From 1954 regularly spent the summer months at Albisola Marina in Northern Italy.
