Sharon Tate and Roman Polanski (1969) photographed by David Bailey. Gelatin silver print, printed in 1988, signed in ink, typed title and date on labels affixed (on the reverse of the frame) 33¼×33in, sold for USD 11,250 at Christie’s in 2009.
This print is unique in this size and was made for the 1989 traveling exhibition The Art of Photography: 150 years, 1839-1989. In ‘Goodbye Baby and Amen’ (ISBN: 9789879791547) this photograph is captioned ‘The imperfect couple… They became part of the Anti-Establishment establishment. They became rich but never regal.’
